Campus ResourcesAdult Students Services Office (974-4504, 413 Student Services Building) The Adult Students Services Office is designed as a central resource for information and support for adult and re-entry students as they make the transition into academic life. Services include Admissions/Readmission Advising, a Mentor/Partner Support Program, an Emergency Locator Service (for adult students with children or who may have family members who need to contact you in case of an emergency while on campus), Encore: The Adult Undergraduate Student Handbook, Transitions: The Adult Student Newsletter, Adult Student Orientation, and academic advising. Campus Ministry Council(974-7449, Office of Student Affairs) The Campus Minister’s Council represents various faith groups, denominations, and organizations at UTK. To learn more about the variety of campus ministries and religious organizations contact the Office of Student Affairs. Career Services Center (974-5435, 100 Dunford Hall) The mission of the Career Services Center is: to assist students in choosing a major, to assess career alternatives, to find employment and to complete a successful transition from the University to the world of work. This service has primary responsibility for issues related to career counseling. They provide this in a number of formats: individual career counseling, assessment, career information, classes and workshops. Dean of Students Office (974-3179, 413 Student Services Building) The Office of the Dean of Students develops recreational, cultural and special programs, administers policies related to student activities and organizations, and works to develop new and effective programs for the campus community. Office of Disabilities Services (974-6087, 2227 Dunford Hall) The Disabilities Services Office provides counseling and academic support services to insure that disabled individuals have access to educational opportunities at the University. Office of Minority Student Affairs and the Black Cultural Center(974-6861, 1800 Melrose Avenue) The Office for Minority Student Affairs and the Black Cultural Center, which is house under its structure, serves as a link between the University and the minority student population. It provides academic, educational, social and cultural programs to assist with the academic performance and retention of African-American students. Programming includes mentoring programs for freshmen and upperclassmen, a student publication, graduate programming, the Bridge Builders program, and various workshops on a variety of academic, intellectual, and social topics. The new Black Cultural Center features a library/reading room, state-of-the-art computer lab, student lounge, gallery, multipurpose rooms, student organization suite, conference room, tutorial suites, and administration offices. The Black Cultural Center is a place to gather, learn, and share ideas and experiences. It is a place for all students. Psychology Clinic (974-2161, Austin Peay Building, Room 227) The UT Psychological Clinic is a university-based agency that provides out-patient psychological services to residents of the Knoxville area. Though technically not a campus mental health service, the Psychology Clinic does provide services to students for sliding-scale fees. The Psychological Clinic provides out-patient psychological services to residents of the Knoxville area. Adult services available include: individual and group psychotherapy, marital and couples counseling, and psychological evaluations. Services for children include individual psychotherapy, family therapy, psychological evaluations, intelligence and educational testing, and parent skills training Safety, Environment and Education (SEE) Center (974-9565, 203 Carolyn P.Brown University Center) Student Health Services (865-974-3135, 1818 Andy Holt Avenue) Student Health Servcies provides the following services: primary care, counseling and psychological services, psychiatric evaluation, immunizations, allergy clinic, family planning/birth control, x-ray, health education, laboratory services, specialty clinics in sports medicine, gynecology, surgery and physical therapy, and a travel clinic. A psychiatrist, a psychiatric nurse practitioner and a clinical psychologist are located at the Student Health Service, where they provide mental health consultation to the medical staff and other University personnel, as well as direct service to students of the University. Student Success Center (946-HELP [4357], 1817 Melrose Avenue) The Student Success Center is a one stop shop, ready to assist students in navigating the various resources on campus and utilizing them in a way that meets their academic and personal needs. They provide information and resources in the areas of academic advising, tutoring and academic support, service and community, and student life.
